        Biography
Paul Aste studies late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages in southwest Europe. His research interests focus on the intersections of belief, identity, and landscape, particularly in the Pyrenees. He is also interested in medievalism, and the use and appropriation of notions of the medieval past in modern Spain and France. Before coming to Brown, he worked in several archives, for a historic preservation non-profit, and for a restaurant. He earned his BA in History from the University of Cambridge, and his MPhil in Medieval History from the University of Cambridge.
