Biography

Sarah Christensen studies intimate histories of women in domestic slavery in the early European Middle Ages. Her current project brings together textual and material evidence from points along European slave-trading routes, from Dublin to Constantinople, to illuminate the everyday lives of enslaved women and their children. She is also interested broadly in the consequences of the women's movement in the medieval world. She is pursuing a graduate certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies at Brown's Pembroke Center. She earned her B.A. in Greek Classics and Literary Arts from Brown University, and her MPhil in Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic from the University of Cambridge.
