Julia Balakrishnan conducted a research trip to the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris to read through the Sixth Crusade crusade documents and registers of immigrants from the East under King Louis IX.
Imen Boussayoud presented their dissertation research, "Descent of Freedom: Slavery and Manumission in the Canary Islands (1400-1600 CE"), at the American Historical Association conference in Chicago.
Nida Jaffer will attend the Zīrid Ifrīqiya and the Islamic World (10th–12th Centuries) conference, which directly relates to her research, and also consult Fatimid manuscripts at the Institute of Ismaili Studies and study related material at the Victoria and Albert and the British Museums.
Shin Lee presented their paper “Geo-Spiritual Assemblages and the Palimpsest of Miaoxi Spring in Medieval Chinese Buddhism” at the 2025 meeting of the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association in San Francisco, California.
